Meet the featured candidates of Jagriti Yatra 2011.

Amit Kumbhar

Amit Kumbhar 22 year old Amit Kumbhar has roots in rural Maharashtra. Despite the flak that bureaucrats have earned lately, Amit stronly admires two among them - an IPS and an IAS officer. Amit admires them for their work in the education sector benefitting under privileged and women. Amit will soon graduate in Engineering and is determined, like his role models, to become social entrepreneur working closely with the so called stubborn government system.

Debarati Rakshit

Debarati RakshitA student from Bhubaneswar, Orissa, Debarati Rakshit, admires her father who was a son of a vegetable vendor and struggled tirelessly to make his way to the prestigious post of a senior government official. She dreams of becoming a social entrepreneur, a social 'Designpreneur', as she candidly calls it. Debarati, kick starting her own initiative, works with rural women customizing handcrafts jewellery.

Prerit Tewari

Prerit Tewari Prerit Tewari, 21, who hails from rural Madhya Pradesh, is a proprietor of his father's firm that encourages organic farming. He admires his father for his hard work and perseverance. He is an engineering graduate and is currently pursuing his studies in technology and management. He dreams of becoming a social entrepreneur and is confident that the Yatra will give him the opportunity to interact with the youth and imbibe new ideas that will guide him in his future endeavours.

Sayli Walke

Sayli WalkeComing from costal Maharashtra, Sayali Walke, 24, shifted to Mumbai at a very tender age of 16 and has been on her own since then. She deeply admires her parents who survived lot of hardships to sustain their business which has now transcended into a chain of restaurants. Sayali wants to be a business entrepreneur. With her Arts and Media background, she, along with her friends, has started a design firm.

Senthilkumar Govindarajulu

Senthilkumar A social worker from semi-urban Andhra Pradesh, Senthilkumar, 37, is passionate about education for all. Senthil is an inspiration himself for having set-up a school for children with learning disability. The school is a haven to about 500 students coming part-time and over 350 taking up classes on a regular basis. Senthil ardently believes that social ventures are an essential to the tackling of social issues. He sees Yatra as a possible platform to connect with like minded people.

Linda Gustafsson

Linda Gustafson5- year-old Linda Gustafsson, Spanish by origin, saw the first spark of her true aim when she started as a research analyst for remedial education programs in Naandi foundation, Mumbai. She proudly admits now that it was this experience that encouraged her to take up Social entrepreneurship. She is also actively involved in fund raising at an international level. Linda firmly believes that women worldwide need a stronger presence in the realm of social entrepreneurship

Gobinda Dalai

Gobinda Dalai Gobind Dalai, 26, who belongs to rural Orissa, has been instrumental in setting up two schools- one in Bhubaneswar for children from the slums and the other in the tribal areas of Mayurbhanj for tribal children. He is a social entrepreneur who firmly believes in clean politics and accountable and good governance. He has been active with many organizations that focus on the Right to Information Act and Good Governance Agenda.

Monal Rohankar

Monal RohankarHailing from Amravati, a not so urban Maharashtrian town, 23-year-old Monal Rohankar is a doctor by profession. Her passion towards clinical healthcare and empathy towards the unprivileged has encouraged her to take up health care in the remotest of tribal areas of India. With some experience in this field in Vidarbha, Monal dreams of setting up a hospital which would be self sustainable and also affordable for the tribes.

Manoj Sharma

Manoj SharmaManoj, 21, a student of ISM Dhanbad, Jharkhand, comes from a rural background. He is an ardent admirer of those people who have been working incessantly towards improving the living conditions of poverty stricken villages of India. Taking a step towards his life goal, Manoj assists a student initiative that takes up the cause of education among the poor and disadvantaged slum dwellers near his college.

Rehana Razack

Rehana RezackRehana Razack, 22, is from Chennai and actively assists a company that makes personalized gifts. A student of Arts and Media, she looks up to her mother as her role model who broke all social barriers to become an entrepreneur and raised all her daughters. Rehana aspires to follow her mother's footsteps and become a successful social entrepreneur, thereby also proving the worth of her mother's sweat and toil.
