Personal Impact

On August 15th, 2007 Jagriti Yatra was launched in Mumbai, India. As well as in Mumbai, events took place in New Delhi, attracted many former Yatris who were involved with the 1997 Yatra. During these events we took the opportunity to interview a number of former Yatris and asked them about the lasting impresssion the 1997 yatra had left on their minds. The personal impact of the last yatra makes them excited about Jagriti Yatra in 2008. Listen to them share their thoughts about the impact of the 1997 yatra and their hopes for the next yatra.

Vikrant Bhuskute

Vikrant Bhuskute Vikrant Bhuskute hails from Dombivili, Maharastra. He is currently working at a multinational healthcare company in India. Vikrant recounts memories of the 1997 yatra and how it changed his outlook on life and inspired him to do his bit to engage with the youth of India.

Mohammad Ghasletwala

Mohammad Ghasletwala Mohammad Ghasletwala hails from Pandharpur which is approximately 220 Km south of Pune in Maharastra. The 1997 Yatra profoundly affected his life, totally changing his outlook on who he was and his place in the world. The yatra also helped define the person that he is today.

Ashwini K Ashwini currently works in Human Resources for a multinational in Pune, India. Meeting the villagers of Tilonia, Rajasthan left a lasting impression on Ashwini. She thinks Jagriti Yatra 2008 will be as seminal in the lives of the 450 participants as it was in hers, inspiring them to define the future of India.

Karishma Attari Karishma is a soon to be published author and writes reviews for books, plays and music. The 1997 yatra made Karishma realise that there is more to life than MTV, gossip and TV ads.

Dev Datta Bhise

Dev Datta Bhise Deva, as he is affectionaly called by his yatri friends, is a successful and driven business man. After completeing his Masters in the USA and working out there for a short while running the family business, Deva decided to return to India where he feels he can do much more by providing employment to Indians in India.
